5 Things I do Every Weekend (2019 Edition)

Happy Weekend! 🎉Today, I'm sharing the top 5 things that have become my weekend staples this year. Although every weekend has its own twists, these are the things I find myself doing almost every Saturday and Sunday. Let’s jump right in!

1. Grocery Shopping 🛒: Every weekend has some form of shopping involved, whether it’s a big haul or just topping up a few essentials. There are also some weekends that we skip grocery shopping, but of course, that’s rare!

2. Laundry Day 👚: Laundry has a life of its own, especially since becoming a mom! What I aim to do is wash, dry, fold, and put everything away. But let’s be real—most weekends, it’s wash, dry…then maybe come back to fold and arrange a week later. Some weekends I manage to complete all four steps, but that is also rare of course 😂

Hahahahha, this cracked me up😂 The struggle is damn real. Image from here
3. Cooking & Cleaning 🍲: Cooking prep is a must! As a working mom, I try to make the week easier by preparing our meals ahead of time. I usually make a big batch of stew and prep some veggies, meats, or fish. Then, during the week, we mix and match with rice, pasta, plantain, or noodles. And I couldn’t do it without my amazing husband’s help; we’ve truly got a great team flow. 🙌

Just a random lunch. Hubs loved it so much that he sent me a picture. This is a one-pot plantain, veggies, and chicken
4. Family Time ❤️: Family time is always the highlight of every weekend for me. In winter, it’s all about "Netflix and Chill" at home, with the occasional drive around town. In summer, we’re all about the outdoors—going to parks, grilling, and hanging out with friends. Christmas is coming up, though, and we’re hoping to get in a couple of festive outings. 🎄

5. Reading & Blogging 📚: This year, my weekends have been filled with online courses, reading, and blogging. Most weekends, I wake up early to fit it all in. It depends on the vibe—some weekends I’m just blogging, and others I’m fully immersed in reading.

That’s a wrap on my top 5-weekend must-dos! Hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into my routine. Right now, I’m off to fry some akara (yum!) before we head out to church. Wishing you a blessed weekend - Until next time...💋
