Celebrating 5 Years in Canada: Reflections and Milestones

Today marks exactly five years since we made the big move from Sweden 🇸🇪 to Canada 🇨🇦, woohoo! 🎉 It feels like just yesterday that I celebrated our 1st-year #canniversary here, and now, here we are, five years later, celebrating this huge milestone.

Looking back over the past five years, I can’t help but feel so grateful for everything we’ve achieved as a family. Has the journey been all smooth sailing? Absolutely not, but if I had to sum it all up in one sentence, it would be: “Relocating to Canada has been one of the most beautiful and best decisions we’ve made as a couple.”

To celebrate this milestone, here are my top five highlights and memories from our Canadian journey. Let’s dive in!

1. Growing Our Family
The biggest blessing has been adding another baby to our family, who’s now a happy, energetic toddler. He has completed our family in the best way. Watching our children blossom in this beautiful country has been a joy.

One of our proudest moments was officially becoming Canadian citizens which I wrote about here. Our first family trip as new citizens was to the United Kingdom. It felt so special to carry that sense of Canadian pride with us on our travels.

3. Settling into My Career
After many uncertainties, I finally settled into a career and a job that I absolutely love. It wasn’t always easy, but my resilience and hard work paid off, and I’m grateful every day for the fulfillment I find in my work.

4. Celebrating Life’s Big Moments 🎉
We’ve marked countless milestones together, from my daughter’s 1st birthday to our 5th wedding anniversary, our son’s 1st birthday, my husband’s 40th birthday, and our daughter’s kindergarten graduation —we’ve celebrated so many milestones together. It’s been an adventure filled with love and joy!

5. Exploring and Making Memories with #ZeIbidzSquad (my lil' family)
We've spent these five years exploring the city and beyond and creating unforgettable memories as a family. We have visited the Calgary ZooHeritage Park, and Winsport amongst other local attractions. We have also taken day trips to neighbouring towns like Drumheller and Banff and enjoyed countless weekend getaways.  We’ve cherished every adventure and discovery together.

Reflections 🌟
It has definitely been a journey and it’s hard to sum up five years of memories in a single post, but I’m so happy to highlight these key moments. As we cross the 5-year mark, I feel ready to embrace whatever the future holds. I’m beyond grateful to my husband for being my rock, my best friend, and the best travel buddy I could ever ask for. Here’s to many more years of creating beautiful memories together!

So, I’ll end today’s post with a heartfelt “Happy 5th-year #canniversary to me and mine, and cheers to many more adventures that lie ahead!!” 🥂 Thank you for stopping by—I’ll see you again at the next one! 💋
