If there’s one thing I love, it’s exploring Calgary with my family—finding places where the kids can run around, have fun, and make memories (while I secretly enjoy a breather, too 😆). We’ve checked out quite a few family-friendly spots, and today, I’m sharing five of our favourite places! If you’re looking for fun things to do with kids in Calgary, keep reading!
I mean, can you even have a family-fun list without mentioning the zoo? My kids absolutely love visiting, and honestly, so do I! From watching the penguins waddle around to seeing the giraffes up close, every visit feels like a new adventure.

Now, this one was a fun experience for the whole family!🚂 We got to ride Thomas the Tank Engine, meet Sir Topham Hatt, and do all sorts of fun train-related activities.
What We Loved:
✔️ The train ride (obviously!)
✔️ The hands-on activities and live entertainment.
✔️ Exploring Heritage Park after—so much history and fun in one spot!
Pro Tip: Book early! This event sells out FAST every year.
This place was so much fun for the kids! It’s part petting zoo, part adventure park, and part let’s-burn-off-all-that-energy park.
What We Loved:
✔️ The kangaroos—hands down the kids’ favourite! 🦘
✔️ The giant slides and lots of play areas.
✔️ The cart ride around the park—such a fun way to take it all in! 🚜
Pro Tip: If you’re visiting during fall, their pumpkin patch is a must-see!
A mix of a fun farm and an adventure park, Granary Road is one of those places where kids get to learn and play at the same time.
What We Loved:
✔️ The active learning park area—so many hands-on, interactive exhibits that make learning fun for kids (and adults too!). From giant ant hills to frog ponds, there’s something exciting at every turn! 🐜🐸🎢✔️ The petting zoo.
✔️ The mini golf area—such a fun way to take a break from all the exploring! With creative obstacles and a beautiful setting, it’s perfect for a little friendly competition. ⛳🏌️♀️🎉
Pro Tip: The best time to go is summer and early fall—there’s way more to do when the weather is nice! They also have a market where you can get some snacks and fresh produce!
✔️ For indoor fun, this place is one of our favorites! With arcade games, climbing structures, and interactive play zones, Big Box has something for everyone (including parents who just want to sit and watch 😆). 🎮🧗♂️✨
